General Description

It is a deciduous tree with height up to 20 meters. With upright trunk with smooth gray bark usually open. The leaves are oval with serrated outskirts. In the beginning they are green, while in autumn they get the color of rust and fall only in late winter. In April shows male and female inflorescences (catkins). Males are yellow-green and much larger than the females which are green. Wood anchovy is very compact and hard and is used in the manufacture of durable articles, such as tool handles. Not used in construction because it is little resistant to bad weather.
